About

My name is Imani Jean-Gilles. I’m visual journalist who wants to tell the stories  of  other through documentaries, photo essays and interviews. Not all people can travel the world,  but that doesn’t mean we can’t experience it.

I was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, which has a very diverse population. Since a young age I’ve been exposed to different cultures, religions and customs. That upbringing was the spark that made me want to become a visual journalist.  I combine art with storytelling and tell the story of those who haven’t  had their voices heard: the voice of the misunderstood, the voice of the disenfranchised, the voice of the people.
